New Law Includes Consideration of Fuel Cells as a Power Source
The New Jersey Fuel Cell Coalition will be phased out over 2023 as other organizations ramp up hydrogen and fuel cell activities in the state, particularly the NJ Clean Cities Coalition and the NJ Fuel Cell Task Force. The NJFCC website will remain active through 2023 to share related news. It has been an honor to work toward clean energy goals with the hydrogen/fuel cell community and other clean energy advocates.

New Law Includes Consideration of Fuel Cells as a Power Source

New Jersey Governor Murphy signed A740/S-2846 into law on May 12, 2021. The new law states that State agencies should consider the use of fuel cells as a power source when awarding purchase contracts for items that require a power source. Such items include motor vehicles, material and cargo-handling equipment such as forklifts, harbor craft, generators, power systems, portable floodlights, microgrids, and telecommunications equipment. The bill was first introduced on January 14, 2020 and primary sponsors are Assemblymen Johnson and Conaway; Assemblywoman DeCroce; and Senators Gopal and Singleton.
