U.S. Department of Transportation to Provide $1.7 Billion Grant for Clean Transit Buses
The New Jersey Fuel Cell Coalition will be phased out over 2023 as other organizations ramp up hydrogen and fuel cell activities in the state, particularly the NJ Clean Cities Coalition and the NJ Fuel Cell Task Force. The NJFCC website will remain active through 2023 to share related news. It has been an honor to work toward clean energy goals with the hydrogen/fuel cell community and other clean energy advocates.

U.S. Department of Transportation to Provide $1.7 Billion Grant for Clean Transit Buses

The U.S. Department of Transportation’s Federal Transit Administration is providing a $1.7 billion grant to help transit agencies replace old buses, provide good-paying jobs, improve transit affordability and reliability, invest in community health and environmental justice, and contribute to the President’s goal of net-zero emissions by 2050. The Notice of Funding Opportunity is for two programs and the first year of these programs under the Bipartisan Infrastructure Law allocated funding that will nearly double the number of no-emission transit buses. Five percent of each grant for zero emission projects must be used for workforce development and training. Priority consideration is given to projects that advance environmental justice under the Administration’s Justice40 Initiative, and to projects that will catalyze a broader shift towards low- and zero-emission options across the transit sector.

Applicants must submit proposals by 11:59 PM Eastern Time on 4/13/2023.
